Olives and their amazing health benefits

3:29 PM

We all know that olive oil is extremely beneficial, from nourishing the skin to boosting our overall health. The ancient Greeks called it liquid gold and even now olive oil is essential in beauty treatments and all sort of diets and nutrition plans.

But, as much as olive oil is extremely delicious and beneficial, when it comes to sustaining a diet, it doesn’t help much, particularly when we feel an urgent need to eat something. And that’s where the essential ingredient in olive oil steps in.

Apart from being delicious, olives are rich in iron, vitamin E, good fats and fibers. World Health Foods writes that olives are amazing. Rich in monounsaturated fats, olives will help you reduce blood pressure as the oleic acid changes signaling patterns at a cell membrane level. Add to that the fact that olives are antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory and are among the few fruits (yes, olives are fruits) that deliver health benefits for our overall body.

As World Health Foods points out, researchers found olives to be benefic in cancer treatments. Remember that olives have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant attributes? Well, these give consumers a better protection against cancer cells and factors that contribute to its development ( chronic oxidative stress and chronic inflammation).

In other words, although many people have a sort of phobia against olives, these little weird fruits help in the elimination of water from the body, are an essential factor in keeping our skin younger and their properties are an amazing aid for those suffering from asthma, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

So, when looking for a healthy delicious snack consider olives too. Eat them alone or in salads, with blue cheese and tomatoes, with potatoes, fish and chicken.
